Vasant Panchami, sometimes referred to as Basant Panchami or Shree Panchami is a Hindu festival celebrating Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, music and art. It is celebrated every year on the fifth day (Panchami) of the Indian month Magh (January-February), the first day of spring.
Vasant Panchami is the most auspicious day to perform Saraswati Puja. In 2012, Basant Panchami puja date is January 28.
On this day, devotees offer special pujas to Goddess Saraswati and all Saraswati temples are decked with attractive decorations. Basara Saraswati temple(Andhra Pradesh), Kollur Mookambika temple and Sringeri Sarada Peetha temple (Karnataka) is the famous places to visit on Vasanta Panchami.
